Superfriends
Children make friends with their feelings.
You've built the best place to play and learn. We add the inside part — through movement, not instead of it.

Made, not handed out.
During the holiday programme every child makes their own idea box and keyring. Not a ready-made goodie bag but something of their own — that goes home with them, and it's exactly what parents ask about.

Choose the programme that fits the group
Within Superfriends, every session fits the group's development. Want all three on one afternoon? That works.

No desks. No tests.
Children are free — and that's exactly when they're most open to getting to know themselves.
They arrive carrying the whole school day.
Including the parts that weren't much fun. We help them quietly neutralise that, so the afternoon starts fresh.
A playful moment for the inside.
Always move first. It feels like playing — it works like growing.
They go home calm and proud.
Right at the hour parents walk in to pick them up.
Three superfriends live in every child.
No abstract theory — three characters children recognise immediately, and that already have a name on the floor after one session.

General Grumpy
the friend who warns you
He shows up when something feels hard. Not naughty — he's just giving you a signal.

Captain Calm
the friend who helps you breathe
He shows you how to settle your head, with one simple breath.

Yay Hooray
the friend who celebrates you
He makes the proud feeling stick around — even when nobody's watching.
What a child can then do alone
Name the feeling
General Grumpy is here — that's allowed.
Welcome it, and breathe
Captain Calm takes over.
Settle your head
Then simply get on with your activity.
Enjoy the proud feeling
Yay Hooray celebrates with you.

Three things only we do
Story yoga
The children don't hear the story. They live it.
The hero struggles → heavy poses, until their legs shake. Then the breath → everything goes light. The body remembers what the head was told.
Musical breathing
Breathing that feels like music.
In with the music, hold, out with the music. It feels like a song, not an exercise — so even the toughest ten-year-olds join in laughing. It's the same rhythmic breathing top athletes and pilots use right before their big moment.
The Car Wash
A body scan, disguised as a game.
Water on your head, your eyes, your shoulders, your whole body. Then we lie down and let ourselves dry — the drying IS the body scan, from the feet all the way to the head. Five minutes of lying still: for many children the only genuinely quiet moment of their day.

The heroes the Netherlands is proud of
André Kuipers, Boyan Slat, Van Gogh and more. They had big feelings too — they recognised them, found their calm, and still did what needed doing. That's the story the children act out with their bodies.
Up first. Then down.
Children arrive full of pent-up school day. We let that energy rise first — then bring it down in a controlled way. That's why they go home calm instead of wound up.
The inner skills
Every session we train one of them, playfully. These are the qualities children keep for life — far beyond the yoga mat.
Creativity
Invent new ideas, stories and ways to play.
Focus
Bring your attention back, again and again.
Adaptability
Bend like a tree in the wind — change is allowed.
Resilience
Fall, get up, try again.
Decision-making
Pause, think, then choose.
Critical thinking
Ask “why?” and find your own answer.
Yoga lasts an hour. This lasts a lifetime.
500 children. Right nearby.
“You keep the pupils engaged really well. Nicely built up — move first, then theory, then move again.”

“Mum, I feel it in my belly — I just need a minute.”
A child who names what they feel — and knows what to do with it. No shouting “just calm down”. No meltdowns at pick-up. That moment at the dinner table is how a programme spreads: from parent to parent, from location to location.

I teach the children.
The language stays with your team.
“Where is Captain Calm right now?”
— any pedagogical staff member, any Tuesday. And the child starts to breathe.
I give your team a tool — not just the children an hour. After a few weeks the group uses the language by itself, including on the days I'm not there.

Experiences from parents and teachers
These reactions come from The Mindful Kids' existing kids yoga sessions and school workshops — a sense of how children and staff experience the method.
“My daughter took part in an activity at The Mindful with coach Gagan, and she loved it. The combination of drawing and yoga was creative and perfectly suited to children.”
“Gagan's workshop made a remarkable impact in our classroom. The breathing, body awareness, and quiet exercises were so special — every child joined in with joy.”
“We had such a lovely experience at the mindful kids workshop. The atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and fun for both parents and children.”
Frequently asked questions
What does Superfriends cost for our BSO?
We work with a tailored quote. The price depends on the number of locations, how many age groups you want, and whether it's a 6-week block or a holiday programme. Request a quote and you'll receive a proposal within a few days.
What's the difference between Superfriends and Heart Detective?
Superfriends is the ongoing programme: weekly sessions during BSO hours, booked as a 6-week block per age group. Heart Detective is the holiday programme: a single 2-hour session during school holidays, in which children work through a complete detective story. Many BSOs combine the two.
How long is a session?
A Superfriends session runs 45 minutes, all materials included. The Heart Detective holiday programme runs 2 hours.
Can we start with just one location?
Yes, and we'd recommend it. Most organisations start with one location and one age group. If it works, we scale up together to more groups or more locations.
Can all three age groups run on the same afternoon?
Yes. Three groups back to back at one location, on one afternoon, works well — for many BSOs that's the easiest way to plan it.
Do you need a separate room?
No. An activity room, gym hall, or a quiet part of the outdoor play area is enough. We agree on this together beforehand.
How many children can join?
Usually up to about 15 children per session, so there's still enough personal attention. For larger groups we're happy to discuss how to organise it — by splitting, for example.
Do our pedagogical staff need to prepare anything?
No. I bring all the materials and lead the session myself. The only thing that stays behind is the language: after a few weeks your team starts asking “where is Captain Calm right now?” — and that keeps working the rest of the week.
Does this work for mixed-age groups?
Yes. We have three age variants (4–6, 7–9 and 10–12). For a mixed group we discuss beforehand which variant or combination fits best.
How do you handle child safety?
We take this seriously and are happy to discuss it during the introductory conversation, so it fits within your own protocols.
Bring Superfriends to your BSO.
Tell me which location, which age groups and which day you have in mind — and I'll send a tailored proposal within a few days. Starting with one location is always fine.
